Barry Callebaut Announces Contestants For UK Chocolate Masters

World-renowned specialist producer, Cacao Barry, has released the names of the four contestants from the UK and Ireland who will compete in the next World Chocolate Masters.

The four contestants competing for the title of UK and Ireland Chocolate Master are:

  • Alistair Birt, Head Pastry Chef at William Curley Ltd, London (below left)
  • Richie Heppell, Head Chef at RAF Leuchars, Fife (pictured above)
  • Norma Kelly, Pastry Lecturer  at Dublin Institute of Technology, Ireland (below right)
  • Mary Reid, Pastry Lecturer at Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology, Ireland (below right)

During the UK and Ireland national pre-selection, talent from around the United Kingdom and Ireland will compete for the  coveted title of UK and Irish Chocolate Master, before the winner represents their country at the 2015 World Chocolate Masters 2015 international final in Paris, in February.

The one-day contest will examine the creative use of chocolate through the theme of Inspiration from Nature. Each contestant will make one chocolate show piece and one moulded praline.

And, in a new twist, the Patisserie of the day assignment will require contestants to prepare a creation with fresh ingredients, while Chocolate to go will require them to will create a whole new concept of chocolate snack.

The UK and Ireland national pre-selection of the World Chocolate Masters will take place at Westminster Kingsway College, London, on 18th February 2015.
