A resourcing director for Compass Group UK & Ireland has been appointed to the Apprenticeship Delivery Board by the Government’s Department of Business, Innovation and Skills.

Melanie Hayes (pictured), has become one of seven business leaders appointed to the board, which is chaired by the Prime Minister’s apprenticeship advisor, Nadhim Zahawi MP, and businessman David Meller.

Set up to encourage businesses to develop apprenticeships across various sectors, the board aims to ‘place employers at the heart of apprenticeships to enable young people to develop the skills they need.’

Ms Hayes, Resourcing and Development Director for Compass Group UK & Ireland, said: ‘Apprenticeships are a great career choice which offer fantastic development opportunities for those involved, and I’m looking forward to raising awareness and to encouraging businesses to boost the delivery of top quality apprenticeship programmes.’

‘As a leading apprenticeship employer, Compass Group UK & Ireland currently employs 500 apprentices a year, and we are committed to developing our programme with the view to significantly increasing the number of apprenticeships we offer.’

Her appointment was celebrated during an apprenticeship event hosted by the Prime Minister at Downing Street earlier this week.
