A herd of ‘cows’ gathered outside Edinburgh’s Huxley restaurant earlier this week (pictured), in protest at City of Edinburgh Council’s decision to issue a warrant for the removal of a model cow which hangs from the building.

Used as a promotional tool for steakhouse Kyloe, the cow has ‘kept watch’ over the west end of the city for the past two years, before the Council officially started formal enforcement proceedings for its removal.

According to Council representatives, the cow sculpture is to be removed because of the ‘detrimental effect on the character of the listed building and on the amenity of the area caused by its position.’

A petition is currently online to save the Kyloe cow. Visit http://www.petitions24.com/save_the_kyloe_cow to sign it if you feel the cow should stay.
