A leading Scottish textile-services company has announced the opening of its much-anticipated super-laundry in Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire.

Opened by The Scottish Tourism Alliance’s chief executive, Marc Crothall, the new facility has the capacity to wash and dry around 600,000 items of bed linen and towels each week for existing customers’ 8,000 hotel rooms,  in addition to a potential 4,000 further rooms.

Located in Palacecraig Street, the £5m development is among the most efficient plants in Europe, with heat-recycling and low temperature features playing a key part in its energy-efficiency credentials.

Michael Jones, Fishers’ managing director (pictured, right, with the Scottish Tourism Alliance’s Marc Crothall), said: ‘Our trucks are a common site on the roads and our new super-laundry brings us 60 miles closer to the Glasgow hotels market.’

Marc Crothall added: ‘Our Tourism Scotland 2020 strategy relies on the support of companies like Fishers to deliver high quality experiences at every stage of the customer journey.

‘Fishers’ commitment to providing a first class service to hoteliers and restaurateurs helps to ensure that we achieve this, and their investment in this new super-laundry is an admirable demonstration of the company’s commitment to the sector.’
