Perthshire-based ‘Highland Chocolatier’, Iain Burnett, is celebrating the start of spring with a clutch of awards and a significant rise in visitor numbers to his Perthshire HQ. The Scottish Chocolate Centre, a four-star exhibition centre and tourist attraction dedicated to the origin, history and processing methods of chocolate, has seen an increase in visitor numbers of 23% over the last few weeks. Following the completion of a large-scale expansion programme in 2012 – including the launch of their first high street outlet shop, in Aberdeen – the Scottish Chocolate Centre also picked up a brace of awards at the Academy of Chocolate Awards in London, in March. Iain Burnett commented: ‘These awards have entrants from all over the world, and we were thrilled to be recognised once again by our peers with these prestigious accolades. ‘It’s been a busy few months here at Grandtully, and we’ve attracted more international tourists than ever, undoubtedly helped by the new brown tourist road signs on the A9. ‘We are no longer a hidden gem in Highland Perthshire.’
