The Scottish Government’s healthyliving award has reported a marked increase in the number of offshore oil platform sites which have applied and received the national award.

A total 18 sites have been successful, including 16 from Aberdeen-based Entiér Services and two from Aramark.

‘Achieving the award for an offshore site can be particularly challenging mainly because of the remote locations,’ explains Karen Mailer, Development Officer at the healthyliving award.

‘Each platform operates on a 24-hour shift rotation and caters for a diverse range of customers. To achieve the award, caterers must make simple changes in the way the food is prepared keeping fat, salt and sugar to a minimum and ensuring that 50% of the menu meets the healthyliving criteria.’

‘Commitment from caterers is vital for the award team to be confident they have a thorough understanding of the criteria to achieve and maintain the award,’ continues Karen. ‘In the case of Entiér and Aramark, all 18 sites have now demonstrated this commitment, and their commitment to achieving the award demonstrates real dedication to their combined workforce of over 2,500 personnel.’
