A Dumfries & Galloway social enterprise charity has been awarded Revolve-accredited status by Zero Waste Scotland.

Set up to assist people affected by homelessness and poverty in the area, SHAX provides them with minimal-cost furniture and white goods. Social Enterprise Manager Joyce Harkness said: ‘Revolve assures customers they are buying from a great re-use shop with a commitment to providing the highest quality second hand products and excellent customer service.

‘Last year alone we were able to help more than 200 local people by making sure they had the basic household items when they moved into secured tenancies.’

‘Through Revolve accreditation we’re able to demonstrate that we have excellent processes in place to ensure the quality of our goods, the training of our staff and the delivery of great customer service.’

Iain Gulland, Chief Executive of Zero Waste Scotland, added: ‘SHAX is an outstanding example of a very effective social enterprise organisation, whose work has a positive impact on the environment by reducing waste and helps saves people money on what can be normally expensive items for the home.’

The SHAX furniture warehouse is situated at Merrick House, The Crichton, Bankend Road, Dumfries, and is open from 9:30am until 4pm Monday-Friday.

Customers wishing to pass on their unwanted items to their nearest Revolve-accredited store can call the national reuse phone line on 0800 0665 820 to have their items collected.
