ScotHot 2017: Scottish Culinary Championships Update

ScotHot 2017 will incorporate the Scottish Culinary Championships, sponsored by Compass Group, which will showcase the culinary talent across the Scottish foodservice industry. Launched on  7th November, the competition programme coincided with the Federation of Chefs Scotland’s annual conference.

The 2017 programme will include competitions under three separate categories:

  • Culinary Art: Comprises an array of static classes in a variety of different mediums, including sugar, chocolate, pastillage, fat and restaurant plates.
  • Skills Arena: Will host classes for chefs at the start of their career, from fish filleting and butchery to knife skills and pastry decorating. Meanwhile, the Skills Theatre will include service competitions aimed at challenging front of house staff
  • Live Theatre: Will offer a fast-moving series of hot-cooking classes taking place throughout the day in eight adjacent work stations, with equipment supplied by Manitowoc and Gram. The line-up will include Scottish Chef of the Year, sponsored by Brakes Scotland, Scottish Junior Chef of the Year, Scottish Contract Catering Chef of the Year and the Dessert Challenge, sponsored by Coup de pate. Meanwhile, in the healthyliving award, chefs will have 40 minutes to produce a traditional  dish to include fruit and vegetables and a commitment to keep fat, salt and sugar to a minimum.
