Women in the City Awards Heralds Foodservice Sector Finalist

The winners of the Women in the City Future Leaders Award 2014 were announced today, with the foodservice and facilities management sector represented for the first time.

The national Future Leaders Award, sponsored by the ICAEW, Google, HSBC and Penna, shines a spotlight on exceptional women and leadership talent, and BaxterStorey operations Manager, Catharine Barras, was  selected as a finalist.

Just 29 years of age,  Catharine (pictured second from right) is now part of the BaxterStorey leadership team. She said of her achievement: ‘It is my duty to be an ambassador for female and young talent, to inspire and encourage other future leaders to enter the facilities management sector, and to have the confidence to achieve their potential.

‘I sincerely thank my amazing RBS team & BaxterStorey for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to make a real difference.’

Simon Esner, Director, BaxterStorey added: ‘Catharine is one of the youngest operations managers within the foodservice industry, and is a true ambassador for women in business.

‘Her involvement with Women in the City demonstrates her commitment to raising the profile of the industry, ensuring that foodservice is viewed as a dynamic business, and ultimately a career of choice. ‘She has demonstrated drive and determination towards her own development and that of her team, which has led to consecutive promotions and promotions of her team year on year.’

The five finalists, selected from the shortlist of ten candidates for the Women in the City Future Leaders Award 2014, are:

  • Joint Winner – Naomi Bowman (2nd from right), Senior Manager – Governance & Operations – Group Monitor Liaison Office, HSBC Holdings PLC
  • Joint Winner – Dr Deborah Gill (centre), Interim Director, UCL Medical School,  London
  • Finalist – Catharine Barras, Operations Manager, BaxterStorey
  • Finalist – Lynn Maxwell (far left), Managing Director for Debt Capital Markets, HSBC Bank PLC
  • Finalist – Kim Swan (far right), Senior Manager, International Regulatory Affairs, Lloyd’s

Sponsored by Google, HSBC, Penna and ICAW, the Women in the City Future Leaders Award is open to women working in any sector, function or role within the UK for organisations employing 250 or more people.
