Aberdeen Caterer Celebrates Apprenticeship Award-Winners

An Aberdeen contract catering and support services company has announced this year’s winners of its apprentice award competition, Fresh Olives.

Over 130 aspiring hospitality and events managers and chefs from four Aberdeen state schools – who participated in a series of set tasks and practical assignments – all of which were developed and aligned to the national school syllabus by Entiér’s executive chef ,Bruce Lawrence (pictured below).

The final, which took place at Aberdeen Grammar school where eight finalists set out to create their winning dish, a Chinese chicken stir-fry, was judged by Bruce together with Entiér’s CEO Peter Bruce, and independent judge George McIvor.

Scott Farquherson and Sean Tough from Bucksburn Academy, and Aiden Grey from Hazelhead Academy, were the competition winners. They will begin their apprenticeships with Entiér in August.

Launched in 2010,  Entiér Services’ Fresh Olives apprenticeship awards are aimed at fourth year school leavers interested in a career in the catering industry.
