The annual competition – organised by North Highland College UHI’s Burghfield training hotel and the Albert Roux Consultancy – sees entrants aged between 18 and 30 submitting a three-course dinner menu for two, with a budget of £15 per cover.

The submitted menus will be judged on paper before eight successful applicants are selected to attend the final at Burghfield House in Dornoch on 28th October.

Mr Roux will lead the panel with support from Andrew Fairlie, Craig, Brian Maule, Steven Docherty, Glen Watson and Derek Johnstone.

The top prize of £500 and work experience at Le Gavroche will be presented by Albert Roux at a special champagne reception later in the year.

Burghfield campus manager, Russell Rekhy, said: ‘This competition will give us the opportunity to showcase some of the excellent talent in our region, as well as our training hotel which is serving one of the region’s key industries.

‘We hope the chance to work at Le Gavroche will be an irresistible draw for our region’s young chefs.’

The closing date for entries is 15th September.
