Banchory Hotel Investment Boosts Local Economy

A well known Aberdeenshire hotel on the banks of the River Dee has completed the third phase of a major refurbishment, as part of a plan which the owners hope will create jobs and provide an economic boost for the local area.
The £300,000 overhaul of the main restaurant and reception, and the creation of a brand-new bar at the Banchory Lodge Hotel (pictured), has employed 10 local people to undertake the work.
While the outside area is still in the development stages, according to management, the bar has been extended to three times its original size to allow for a doubling of covers, from 45 to 90.
General Manager Robbie Mitchell is enthusiastic about the plans: ‘We’re excited that the third phase of our refurbishment is now complete,’ he explains. ‘We’ve restored and added to the building and grounds to help deliver a venue for Deeside that is as much for the locals as it is for guests further afield.’
