CIS Excellence Independent Hotel of the Year co-sponsor, Bruce Stevenson Insurance Brokers (BSIB), has raised close to £2,000 for Scottish food charity, FareShare, after teaming up with global adventurer Mark Beaumont. The 30-strong group (pictured above) which comprising employees, business associates, friends and family of the Edinburgh-based business, set off from Bonys Steakhouse near Peebles on 2nd June on either a 20- or 56-mile trek around the Borders countryside. Round-the-world cyclist Beaumont, who also acts as a corporate ambassador for BSIB and supports the business across tailored speaker events and charitable activities.

Commenting on the day Edward Bruce, CEO of Bruce Stevenson Insurance Brokers, said: ‘I’d like to thank everyone who supported us. It was a fantastic day with the weather on our side. We’ve raised almost £2,000 for FareShare Scotland and we’re well on track to reach our target by the year end.

‘We’re extremely grateful to Mark for leading the way, especially given the incredible challenges that he’s facing with his world record mission to cycle the globe.’

The money raised from the event will enable FareShare to buy crates to transport surplus fresh fruit and vegetables from factories directly to charities.

Mark Beaumont added:  I was delighted to join the team on their charity cycle. The cyclists stayed focused and motivated throughout some tough hill climbs and headwinds but they kept smiling!  It’s an incredibly scenic route so was a great way to raise money for such a worthy cause.’
