Ferry operator Caledonian MacBrayne hosted a tasting event last week as a prelude to the national Taste for Tourism conference in Oban.

Held at the company’s port office in the town, the event showcased several small-to-medium-sized suppliers, including Arran Cheese, Island Organic Biscuits of Mull and drams from both Oban and Tobermory.

Peter Griffiths, CalMac’s marketing manager, said: ‘Caledonian MacBrayne spends in excess of £5m a year with over 60 local suppliers and we became the first ferry company to gain VisitScotland’s Taste Our Best accreditation this year.

‘In addition to this we also gained our first ever local sourcing nomination at the Scotland Food and Drink Awards.

‘The quality of Scotland’s produce is second-to-none and we are proud to play our part in promoting, serving and selling these offerings across our fleet.’
