CIS Excellence Awards 2015 Launch Today with Third Winners’ Film
The CIS Excellence Awards 2015 have launched today, as organisers release the third in a series of professionally produced videos aimed at promoting the awards to businesses in the Scottish hospitality, catering and tourism industry.
The films – produced by Edinburgh-based Immagine Productions – features past winners of various categories including the Chef of the Year, the Restaurant Newcomer and Employee of the Year Award.
And following up from the first and second films over the last two months – which feature Neil Forbes of the Sustainable Business Award-winning Cafe St Honore and Employee of the Year winner, Mandy Gray from Compass Group at Edinburgh Castle – the new production showcases the Cock & Bull at Balmedie, Aberdeenshire, which this year scooped Pub of the Year.
Owner and general manager Mandy Davidson has run the areas’s most popular establishment for the last decade, since taking the reins from her parents, who bought the venue in the mid-1970s.
Judges in the 2014 awards praised the quality of food, service and atmosphere, and hope the pub’s high standards and success will inspire others hoping to enter the CIS Excellence Awards 2015.
Speaking in the video, Ms Davidson explains how the accolade has made a significant difference to her staff and indeed the entire operation at the Cock & Bull since picking up the trophy in May:
‘Since winning the Pub Excellence Award it has made a significant difference to business here,’ she explains during the film. ‘It was great to get such meaningful recognition and it gave the staff a real morale boost. The the publicity it has generated you can’t put a price on.
‘We even got a mention in Scottish Parliament the week that we won, and a letter from the First Minister congratulating all the staff on our achievement.’
Sponsored by Heinz Foodservice, the Pub Excellence Award seeks to identify and celebrate the establishment which most deserves to be recognised for its high quality food, atmosphere and service.
Open to Scottish pubs, bars and gastro pubs, the award aims to highlight the establishment which has consistently risen above the standards expected by today’s demanding diners.
Entries for the 2015 awards are open now and close on Friday 6th March.
