The CIS Excellence Awards Hotel of the Year 2012 has been put on the market. The Summer Isles Hotel (pictured above), near Achiltibuie, and has attracted a number of famous names over the years, with guests including Charlie Chaplin, Sir Ian McKellen and Labour politicians John Smith and Robin Cook.
According to Colliers International, who is marketing the property for current owner Terry Mackay, the hotel’s remote location and privacy help its appeal: ‘The Summer Isles Hotel would be ideal for anyone who is looking for a unique lifestyle business, along with an excellent home and a strong income,’ commented Alistair Letham, a director in the UK hotels agency team at Colliers.
‘Likewise, the hotel has been renowned for outstanding cuisine for over three decades, and for 13 consecutive years it was awarded a Michelin Star. It also benefits from one of the finest wine cellars in Scotland.’
Situated on a peninsula west of Ullapool, the property provides a range of accommodation, including suites in a terrace of cottages, a log cabin and three individual bedrooms, as well as conventional hotel rooms in the main building.
Colliers International is inviting offers over £695,000 for the Summer Isles Hotel, with the separate Matthew’s Cottage and the croft land available in addition by separate negotiation.
