CODE Concepts, the Edinburgh-based boutique hotel and hostel operator, has opened a new events and co-working space in Edinburgh’s Old Town. The newest addition to the company’s portfolio, which includes the Court, the Loft, John’s Coffee House and the Lost Close, the Pend – whose name refers to a passageway leading somewhere beyond – launches in advance of the Bindery, a design-led boutique hotel set to open in Edinburgh’s New Town early next year.
CEO, Andy Landsburgh, said: ‘The Pend brings together spaces that genuinely connect people and has been shaped by our guests and Edinburgh’s creative community. Seeing those groups come together on opening night was incredibly special.’
Designed as a social hub, the Pend is a place to gather, work and create and serves as a shared platform for Edinburgh’s creative and business communities.
Designed in collaboration with SPLINTR, the space includes a multipurpose cinema room allows for screenings, performances and workshops, a co-working and social area which aims to provide a comfortable setting for productivity and conversation, and a bookable studio (pictured left) which is equipped with a 55-inch screen meetings and private events.
With its official opening now complete, further announcements on programming and partnerships will follow in the coming months as the Pend establishes itself as one of Edinburgh’s most dynamic social and creative spaces.
