The Best Western Plus Keavil House Hotel in Crossford, near Dunfermline, has installed the charging facility to ensure electric car charging stations are available at half of its 270 independently owned hotels.

In recent years, major car manufacturers including Renault, Nissan, BMW, Mitsubishi, Citroen, Ford and Mercedes have invested large sums in the development of all-electric vehicles. Meanwhile, up to £400m has been pledged into the UK Government’s Plugged In Places scheme.

Best Western’s board director, Angela Burns – a longstanding electric car driver – said of Keavil House’s new development: ‘Current Government figures show that electric car use will increase to 1.2m by 2020, so we are pleased that hotels such as this one – and its sister property, the Best Western Plus Bruntsfield Hotel, in Edinburgh – are supporting this initiative.’
