The nationwide search – organised in association with Staff Canteen and Highland Game – aims to identify the best professional game chef in the UK.

Last year’s winner, Tom Van Zeller (pictured holding his trophy), owns and operates his eponymous restaurant in Harrowgate, North Yorkshire.

This year’s finalists each receive £100 and will take part in a cook-off at The Cook School Scotland on 26th January. Judged by Tom Kitchin, Dominic Jack, Paul Gayler MBE, Joe Queen and Ian McAndrew, the last 10 will battle it out for first prize of a once-in-a-lifetime trip boar-hunting to Sweden, courtesy of Highland Game.
