Glasgow Institution Scoops First Place in International Cookery Competition

Scotland has triumphed for a second time at the Nations Cup International Student Culinary Competition.
City of Glasgow College Chef Senior Lecturer Gary Maclean (pictured, far right) and HND Professional Cookery students Lenka Faksoba and Darren Seggie (also pictured) defended the title against student teams from Canada, Italy, Mexico, Barbados and the USA.
Gary, who also led the winning team in the 2013 competition, said: ‘Lenka and Darren are two amazingly talented young people who’ve shown everyone that Scottish food and culinary education is world class.
City of Glasgow College Principal and Chief Executive, Paul Little, added: ‘Our students’ hard work, skills and commitment reflect highly on the courses delivered by the college.’
The three-day international cooking competition, hosted in Michigan by Grand Rapids Community College’s Secchia Institute for Culinary Education, was created in 2005 to support professional and cultural learning for tomorrow’s chefs.
