A national search is underway for the next generation of leaders in the hospitality industry. The two-year, part-time Executive Masters – delivered in partnership with the International Leadership School – harnesses the experience of Strathclyde Business School in Glasgow, Cornell University in New York and École hôtelière de Lausanne in Switzerland.

The first two intakes in 2012 and 2013 have included candidates from leading hoteliers including Hilton, Intercontinental Hotel Group, Principal Hayley and Swissotel.

Laurie Nicol, general manager at Glasgow’s Grand Central Hotel, said the course had been an excellent learning experience: ‘I was initially daunted by the thought of going back to studying, but I have enjoyed every minute,’ she said. ‘I loved having the opportunity to have open discussions with fellow industry peers who can offer guidance and support.’

Professor Alan Wilson, academic director of Strathclyde Business School, added: ‘The fact that this is a truly international programme delivered by leading academic institutions means we are able to deliver a first class programme which is both theory-rich and has a core element of practical education.

‘The candidates who have enrolled so far are already reaping the benefits, with many having secured promotions in what will be the next steps in a long career in the hospitality sector.’
