Memorial Service to be Held for Gleneagles Hotel Chef, Alan Gibb

The memorial service for Gleneagles Hotel’s executive chef Alan Gibb will take place later today. Alan, who died suddenly of a stroke earlier this month, had been shortlisted as CIS Excellence Awards’ Chef of the Year 2016.
His colleague and boss, the Director of Food and Beverage at Gleneagles, Alan Hill, said: ‘He was not just an exceptional chef, he was a friend and a source of inspiration to all of us who had the fortune to work with him.
‘He was admired and respected, among Gleneagles staff and hotel guests, within the catering and hospitality industry, and across Scotland and the UK – not just for his talent, knowledge and professionalism, but for his gentle manner, his kindness and his great sense of humour.’
‘It is a terrible shock to the Gleneagles community and the void he has left is all too tangible. However, we take comfort that his legacy will live on through the hundreds of chefs he mentored over the years, whose interest in catering was sparked by his enthusias, and for whom Alan was a great role model.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Alan’s family at this time.’
Alan, who led a team of 70 chefs across four restaurants at the Perthshire resort, leaves behind wife Karen and son Liam.
The memorial service takes place today at 11.30am at Gleneagles Hotel, Perthshire.
