New App Makes Going Green Easy for Retailers

A new app aimed at providing a dedicated one-stop-shop for businesses’ resource-efficiency requirements – including water, energy and waste – has been designed for smaller retailers.
Developed by Resource Efficient Scotland (RES), the app will be demonstrated to an audience of UK-wide retailers as part of a major energy event in London, hosted by the Retail Energy-Efficiency Task Force. The task force consists of major retailers from across the UK working to share best practice on energy-efficiency with smaller retailers.
Featuring videos, practical tools and information, together with links to wider support from RES, the app will provide retailers with help and advice on going green at the touch of a smartphone button.
Produced by Aberdeenshire-based Enscape Consulting Ltd, the app is available for all android and smartphones, and is free to download from Google Play and the Apple itunes store.
Resource Efficient Scotland’s Programme Area Manager for the business sector, Stephen Boyle, will introduce the technology to hundreds of influential participants form the retail world at the ‘Reducing Waste Energy – An Energy Management Workshop for Retail’ event.
‘The retail sector has the potential to make huge efficiency savings and we are keen to help them realise these where they can, and to make their businesses more efficient,’ he said.
‘The Green Retail app is a handy, easy-to-use and comprehensive tool for retailers to access the latest advice and support from the Resource Efficient Scotland programme and Zero Waste Scotland, making smarter use of resources and saving money in the process.’
