The 2025 Scottish Excellence Independent Hotel of the Year has just been crowned Scottish Spa of the Year.
The 18-month-old £2m spa at the 86-bed Cairndale Hotel in Dumfries saw off challenges from five-star facilities in both Edinburgh and Gleneagles at UK Good Spa Guide Awards, ahead of runners-up Sheraton Grand Hotel’s One Spa and the Spa at Gleneagles.
Launched in June 2024, the Cairndale’s spa is centred around a hydro-pool with mermaid tiles, while a glass-separated lounge features a herbal relaxation space with swinging bench chairs and juice bar.
Meanwhile, an infrared sauna, herbal and aroma steam rooms, plus Scotland’s only double Hammam and Himalayan salt sauna line the perimeter. The brave can cool off in its Brass Monkey ice bath.
