Scottish Secretary David Mundell is to welcome a number of Scottish companies and guests to mark St Andrew’s Day in London today. Celebrating the best of the country’s food, drink and produce, the event will include local producers The Highland Chocolatier, Shetland Reel Gin and more established names such as AG Barr and Mackies. Commenting on the forthcoming event, Mr Mundell (pictured left), said:’Scots have a unique influence right across the globe and I’m pleased that we are marking that through our #GlobalStAndrews campaign. From peacekeeping to aid work and the building trade to diplomatic alliances, Scottish people play a significant part on the global stage. As Secretary of State for Scotland, I’m proud to showcase our world-class food-and-drink industry which collectively is worth over £14bn each year. As the UK prepares to leave the EU, the UK Government is committed to helping Scottish businesses seize the exciting new trade opportunities ahead.’
Coinciding with the UK Government’s #GlobalStAndrews campaign which aims to recognise Scotland’s impact across the world, the showcase will help to highlight UK Government staff playing a key role in international affairs. Co-ordinated by the Scotland Office, it includes contributions from the Ministry of Defence, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and the Department for International Development.
