Bidvest Foodservice Launches Guide as One in Five Confused By Food Industry Standards

A new survey by Bidvest Foodservice has revealed that one in five industry professionals feel confused by current food standards.

Entitled Making Sense of Standards, the guide covers a wide range of recent policies, including Government Buying Standards, Care Home and Hospital Standards, and The School Food Standards, and is designed to help buyers, suppliers and caterers to understand the different standards affecting their organisations.

Education catering specialist, Patricia Fellows, has been working with Bidvest Foodservice to help make the changes easier for schools to implement: ‘I believe the guide will be a great help to caterers and food buyers,’ she explained. ‘For school caterers it includes information on the School Food-Based Standards, the Government Buying Standards, and Food for Life, which aligns so well with the School Food Plan.’

Andy Kemp, Group Sales and Marketing Director at Bidvest Foodservice added: ‘When it comes to the public sector in particular, making sense of government and industry standards can be a real challenge.

‘This new guide will be a go-to resource for foodservice professionals, so they’ll be able to identify which regulations are relevant to them, as well as what they can do to meet the required standards.

‘It’s just one of the ways that we are trying to make life a little easier for our customers’
